Websites We Love: TwitPic Exporter

As heavy users of Twitter, we are frequently sending photos to our Twitter stream to illustrate something to the folks that follow us.  Whether it's a simple #TheViewFromWhereImSitting or something funny we've stumbled upon, the ability to post photos to Twitter has become an important part of how we use it.

Until recently, TwitPic was our photo service of choice.  You got a personalized email address that allowed you to use email the image to TwitPic and add the tweet to accompany the picture in the subject line.  Recently though, TwitPic changed their terms of service so that they are laying claim to all of your images that you sent through TwitPic.  The original version of the change barred you from selling your own photos on TwitPic to any media agencies.  They have since removed that paragraph, but still reserve the right to sell your photos themselves.

Needless to say, this change has caused many folks to rethink using TwitPic.  And how to quickly get all of your images off TwitPic.  That's where Steven Bullen's TwitPic Exporter (http://export-twitpic.stevenbullen.com/) comes to the rescue. The process is very simple:

1. Authorize TwitPic Exporter to have access to your TwitPic account. Don't worry, you can revoke authorization after you're doing using TwitPic Exporter.

2. TwitPic Exporter will find your pictures on Twitpic and start exporting or backing them up.

3. Back up your photos or import them to the following services:

4. You're done.  Now, just go back to TwitPic and delete your photos.  If you go to Steven Bullen's web site, he has also created a Chrome extension that lets you delete all of your TwitPic with just one click.

The only hard part is choosing which Twitter photo service to use now.  Got a favorite you want to recommend?  Let us know in the comments.
